SAM curator, McClusky, will discuss the works and their intertwined context at this preview lecture.

The exhibition includes about 60 of Gauguin's brilliantly-hued paintings, sculptures and works on paper, which are displayed alongside 60 major examples of Polynesian sculpture that fueled his search for the exotic. Organized by the Art Centre Basel, the show is comprised of works on loan from some of the world's most prestigious museums and private collections.</x-trumba:customfield>

Diana James reads from 'Shared Walls' at the Central Library

Saturday, Mar. 3, 2012, 2 – 3 p.m.

Where: *Central Library
Level, Room: Level 4, Washington Mutual Foundation Meeting Room 1
Audience: Teens, Adults
Language: English
Summary: Diana James' new book, "Shared Walls," explores the history of early apartment living and apartment buildings in Seattle.
Full Description: Join us on a historic trolley ride with James as our guide. While not literally a ride on the Summit-Bellevue trolley, it becomes historic as she describes what is now Metro bus route #14. "Look" out of the windows to learn about buildings that have been there since at least 1913. James' discussion of the passing scene will particularly point out the apartment houses and the small businesses that served the Summit-Bellevue neighborhood. This is the story of the back and forth -- between work, home and public transportation.
View in Catalog: "Shared Walls" by Diana James
Event Notes: Library events and programs are free and everyone is welcome.
