But Sugar Lee, their high-spirited, determined leader, has her hands full keeping the women motivated. Carlene's given up on romance, having buried three husbands. Nita's a nervous wreck from running interference between her problematic son and his probation officer. Mavis' marriage is so stagnant she's wondering how she can fake her own death to get out of it. And sweet, simple Crystal entertains them all, singing Christmas carols with her own hilarious lyrics. The comic tension mounts when a sexy ex-boyfriend shows up unexpectedly, a marriage proposal comes from an unlikely suitor and Sugar Lee's archrival vows she'll stop at nothing to steal the spa away from her. Summary: Kim Addonizio has been called “one of our nation’s most provocative and edgy poets.” Her latest books are Lucifer at the Starlite , recently a finalist for the Poets Prize and the Northern CA Book Award; and Ordinary Genius: A Guide for the Poet Within, both from W.W. Norton. Kalima Press recently published her Selected Poems in Arabic. Addonizio’s many honors include a Guggenheim Fellowship, two NEA Fellowships, and Pushcart Prizes for both poetry and the essay. Her collection Tell Me was a National Book Award Finalist. Other books include two novels from Simon & Schuster, Little Beauties and My Dreams Out in the Street. Addonizio offers private workshops in Oakland, CA, and online, and often incorporates her love of blues harmonica into her readings.

Summary: ART EXHIBIT, Open Studio, March 12 – 29, 2012, The Weather or Not installation will be a work in progress that will first be exhibited on the ground floor of the Esvelt Gallery during Open Gallery. The project will then be packed up and installed temporarily on one of the piers in downtown Seattle as part of an international art conference called NCECA(National Council for the Education of Ceramic Arts).

Clad in the clothing of the era, she portrays Mrs. Calvin Adams, wife of a St. Louis tavern keeper, who is eager to share the latest stories and gossip about the Lewis and Clark expedition upon their return.

Summary: Robert W. Richardson lives with a song in his lips and music in his heart. When he died, at 77 on Sept. 2, 1990, his love of music continued living. Richardson, a Tri-Citian most of his youthful and adult life, enabled this love to continue for future generations of musicians who graduate from Tri-city area high schools. This Recital is the final phase of a three step process designed to select the top three candidates to receive the Robert Richardson Scholarship. Come hear the best high school musicians in the area all at one event.
