She Loves Me (Boston, MA)

Boston University Theatre
Friday, May 16, 2008

She Loves Me is the perfect musical - warm and funny, with what's considered one of the most beautiful scores in the American theatre. Acclaimed since its 1963 premiere and rediscovered in a hit 1993 Broadway revival, She Loves Me has captivated audiences for decades. This romantic comedy is the story of two lovesick, anonymous pen pals who work together during the day, blissfully unaware that they are writing to each other at night. An endearing tale of unlikely sweethearts and the eccentric colleagues who aid and abet them, She Loves Me is based on Parfumerie, the play that also inspired the Jimmy Stewart classic The Shop Around the Corner, and the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan film You've Got Mail.

More info: www.huntingtontheatre.org…

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Chicago, IL)

Baliwick Arts Center
Monday, May 19, 2008

Bailiwick is thrilled to present THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME as never seen before! This classic love triangle between the gypsy, Esmeralda; the priest, Frollo; and the deformed bell-ringer, Quasimodo, is a perfect match for the theatrical sensibility of rock legend Dennis DeYoung, whose songs like Lady, Come Sail Away, and Mr. Roboto are treasured. The soaring ballads and driving musicality of DeYoung's score are a perfect match for this story set against the spires of the world's most beloved cathedral.

More info: www.bailiwick.org…

When Jesus appears in a vision, and Mary heeds his message “to do everything she can to help him,” her good deeds are met with dire consequences, Mary is forced to question everything she’s ever believed. Through it all, she finds faith in unexpected places and learns what it truly means to be saved.

More info: www.playwrightshorizons.org

Eureka Theatre
Thursday, June 5, 2008

Cole Porter’s deliciously saucy farce about Greek Gods and Hollywood movie types on the loose in 1950s Athens was a smash hit for 42nd Street Moon in 2000, with acclaim for Greg MacKellan’s newly-revised script. A production in Chichester in 2004 starred Anne Reid and brought accolades from the London critics. Darlene Popovic, Steve Rhyne, and Stephanie Rhoads return with an all-new supporting cast, singing Porter’s great songs including From This Moment On, Use Your Imagination, Nobody’s Chasing Me, They Couldn’t Compare to You, No Lover, and Cherry Pies Ought to Be You.

More info: www.42ndstmoon.com

The Gondoliers (NYC)

City Center
Thursday, June 12, 2008

Two men who could be king. Two women who would be queen. And two class-crossed lovers who'll be together at any cost. It all adds up to too much fun in this sparkling show (also called The King of Barataria) that capped off Gilbert and Sullivan's careers. When a nurse switches two babies at birth, it serves as the catalyst for a series of complications that span several decades, several social classes, and several kingdoms! Chock-full of comic characters, incredible plot twists, and spectacular choreography, Gilbert's satire of social snobbery is matched only by Sullivan's spectacular score in this production.

More info: nygasp.org…

Children of Eden (Huntsville, AL)

Lee High School - Lyric Theatre
Friday, June 13, 2008

IMP will produce Stephen Schwartz' Children of Eden for the summer show of 2008. Children of Eden is perhaps the least describable Schwartz musical because it holds meaning on so many levels. The basis for the story is Genesis - both the first books and the story of Noah's ark. But audiences immediately experience that the relationships between Father, Adam, and Eve has more to do with earthly families, their immediate challenges and their generational legacies. This is truly a show that all ages can enjoy.

More info: imphuntsville.org…
