PLEASE JOIN OUR CLASS IN THE MANNEQUIN CHALLENGE AGAINST ISLAMOPHOBIA! On Thursday December 8th at 12Noon IAS Professor Ali and her BISCLA class on Contemporary Muslim Artists will gather at the plaza between UW1 and UW2 to film their Mannequin Challenge on Islamophobia. Their final frozen scene includes Muslims praying while a large group of allies create a protection circle surrounding the praying congregation. They would like to ask the UW Bothell community of students, staff, administrators and faculty to join us in creating this protection circle. Dress warm and find us at the “W” as we stand in solidarity against Islamophobia and all vulnerable communities facing hate. All are welcomed! NOTE: if you see us them campus creating our frozen moments, please do not disrupt the scenes or filming in progress. Instead we encourage you to walk by as you normally do to get to your classes or stand as long as you want as active witnesses. Scenes will include re-enacted hate crimes, impassioned protesters, Trump supporters, Muslims praying and the protection circle. We will share the final completed video online on December 13, 2016 during finals week. Thank You! |
