Capital-centric approaches present capitalism as so totalizing a force that it often becomes hard to imagine material life outside of its circuits. More than ever, we need to nourish our capacities to envisage - and more importantly, practice -- social relations of production and forms of engagement beyond capitalism. Inspired by the approach developed by J. K. Gibson Graham, Resnick and Wolff, and members of the Association for Economic and Social Analysis (AESA, which puts out the journal Rethinking Marxism), this discussion will present work on experiments to imagine and build alternate economies by S. Charusheela and past and present students of the MA in Cultural Studies at UW Bothell. For other events part of Red May click HERE>> |
