Description | Join IAS faculty member Jennifer Atkinson and her students for a conversation with alums Jasleena Grewal and Aaron Huston. Please RSVP >> Jasleena Grewal is a 2013 graduate of the Environmental Science program. While at UW Bothell, she was a peer tutor for the Writing & Communication Center, on the editorial board of the literary and arts journal, Clamor, and a volunteer with The Dream Project, supporting equitable access to higher education. Currently, Jasleena is working on a psychiatric nurse practitioner degree at Seattle University and is a freelance journalist writing about art, culture, and social justice. Her work has been seen in YES! Magazine, Brown Girl Magazine, Truthout, and TIME. Aaron Huston brings his knowledge of commercial kitchens, seasonal cooking and sustainable agriculture to his work with Farmstand Local Foods. Aaron has a degree in Global Studies and Environmental Studies (2013) from UW Bothell with a focus on Conservation Science and Management. Aaron lived on the Olympic Peninsula before working with 21 Acres as a Sustainability Educator. He also helped build relationships with farmers and food purchasers since 2014 to form the farmer owned cooperative called the Puget Sound Food Hub. He is passionate about local food systems and interested in exploring alternative methods of growing food, such as the benefits of aquaponics and vertical gardens. You may see him delivering fresh farm product to restaurants, sharing ideas about how to cook with local foods, maintaining green spaces, or leading farm tours. Mentor Chats are designed to assist students with career exploration, networking, and learning about a range of professional trajectories. Through hosted conversations, Mentor Chats provide opportunities to connect with IAS alumni working across diverse roles and sectors. Questions?
