		<content type="html">El Rancho Cordillera del Norte&lt;br /&gt;9015 Wilbur Ave. , Northridge, CA 91324&lt;br /&gt;(Southwest Corner of Nordhoff &amp;amp; Wilbur &lt;br/&gt;Sunday, May 19, 2013, 11:30am&amp;nbsp;&amp;ndash;&amp;nbsp;5pm &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;MUSEUM OF THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY HONORS THE BIG READ PROGRAM&lt;br /&gt; The Museum of the San Fernando Valley will host &amp;#8220;A Grand Souk Festival&amp;#8221; on Sunday, May 19th at El Rancho Cordillera del Norte from 11:30 am until 5:00 pm.&amp;#160; This open air bazaar of arts and culture is a culminating celebration of the Big Read Program through the National Endowment for the Arts and the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.&amp;#160; This Valley celebration is sponsored by The Museum of the San Fernando Valley, a participant in this year&amp;#8217;s Big Read Program.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; As a multi-cultural festival, the event will feature art, music crafts and theatre based on and reflective of the writing of Nobel Prize-winner, Naguib Mahfouz, author of The Thief and the Dogs, a novel that takes place near the bazaars of Cairo, Egypt.&amp;#160; Visitors will be treated to a rich tapestry of experiences representing the diverse cultural crossroads of a Middle Eastern marketplace.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Artists, musicians, singers, dancers, story-tellers, weavers and muralists from many Los Angeles communities collaborate to create the authentic feel of a bustling and joyous bazaar.&amp;#160; Food and beverages will be available at a modest cost from the Rancho&amp;#8217;s cantina on-site.&amp;#160; Parking is available at the Rancho and there will be plenty of street parking.&amp;#160; All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.&amp;#160; The Rancho is located at 9015 Wilbur Avenue on the Southwest corner of Wilbur and Nordhoff.&amp;#160; For more information please contact Dr. Gerald Fecht, &lt;a href="mailto:gerald.fecht@themuseumsfv.org" target="_blank"&gt;gerald.fecht@themuseumsfv.org&lt;/a&gt; or visit &lt;a href="http://www.themuseumsfv.org/" target="_blank"&gt;www.themuseumsfv.org&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; This alcohol, tobacco and drug-free event is free to the public, although donations are appreciated.&amp;#160; All proceeds go to the Museum of the San Fernando Valley.
