They were just a few of the thousands of products, curiosities, and inventions that made their debut at one of 17 World's Fairs that took place on America soil between 1853 and 1982. Visitors will enjoy more than 125 objects, photographs, and ephemera that detail progress, promotion, and public response.

Coupons For Our Troops Program at The Howard Whittemore Libary

~ The Howard Whittemore Library is collecting coupons to send to our military families stationed overseas. The prices in overseas commissaries are significantly higher than those in the States and military families do not always have access to coupons in newspapers and inserts. Military families stationed overseas are often living on one income and coupons help them stretch their budget and make ends meet.

The average Sunday newspaper contains approximately $125 worth of coupons. Even the smallest donation, when combined with the donations of other individuals, will make a difference for many military families serving our country overseas.

It’s an easy way to make a big difference in their lives! Please help us help them!

We are asking the public to please bring their unused and expired coupons to the library each week. No need to clip them, just submit the entire insert from the Sunday newspaper. Overseas military members can use expired coupons up to six months past their expiration date! Please send only Manufacturer Coupons. Do not send Store or Restaurant Coupons. Do not send coupons that expired more than 60 days ago.
• Volunteer! Come to our clip-a thon! We will be clipping, counting and boxing up our coupons for our troops. We would love to have you! Our next coupon cutting day is Friday, Feb.10,2012 at 11am in the Childrens department at the Howard Whittemore Library. This month we will be sending coupons to Gaeta, Italy U.S. Naval Facility.
