The Prizm Art Group is a charitable organization containing nearly 400 members. A visitor favorite in its seventeenth year, Butterflies Are Blooming features butterflies from tropical regions around the world flying freely in the 5-story Tropical Conservatory. The 80-degree conservatory is filled with thousands of exotic butterflies from tropical regions around the world. More than 40 different species of butterflies and moth make this a warm and colorful exhibition. Throughout the exhibition, butterflies can be viewed drinking nectar from the flowering plants and feeding stations, congregating among stream beds and flying freely within the five-story tropical conservatory. Approximately 800 chrysalides are delivered to Meijer Gardens weekly. Visitors may watch delicate chrysalides and cocoons being placed in the Butterfly Bungalow, where the unique creatures transform and take their first flight.

In conjunction with their March 9th, 10th, and 11th production of the Tony Award winning, Urinetown, the Musical, the Clay High School Limelighters are collecting toiletries to benefit the local Non-Profit “Food for Thought.” The Limelighters will be placing special “Toilet-Trees” at collection sites around the Oregon Community and at the performances the week of March 4th -11th. Donations of toilet paper, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush/toothpaste, and hand sanitizer are most needed.
The Limelighters will also be donating $1 of every ticket sold Opening Night, March 9th, to the Cody Van Hersett Hockey Scholarship Fund continuing a tradition to support where there is a need in our community.
Performances are in the Clay High School Auditorium with 7:30 p.m. curtain times for Friday and Saturday March 9th and 10th, and 2:00 p.m. for Sunday the 11th. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. There will also be an opportunity for $20 “Dinner and a Show” tickets on Saturday, March 10th with proceeds supporting Limelighters Boosters. The Whitman Center will host a presentation by Todd Matteson, Associate Professor of Art at Lourdes University. He will be highlighting the work of some of the world’s greatest artists. Twenty five reproductions which include corresponding information about the painting and the artists are on display. Participants will learn fascinating facts about the artists and the various periods of art from the Renaissance to Impressionism.
The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will be held on March 14, from 7 to 8:00 p.m. in Room 9 of the Center.
In conjunction with the presentation, will be the work of young artists from the Bedford Township elementary schools. View their interpretations of the masterpieces of Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet and others.
These displays will be in the Whitman Center lobby for free viewing during regular business hours, which are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. No registration is required for the presentation.
