Join the Frick Art Research Library for a virtual lunchtime workshop and discussion led by art historians Leslie Koot and Julia May Boddewyn. Participants will learn how to use The Modigliani Initiative, a freely accessible, interactive online catalogue dedicated to the artistic legacy of Amedeo Modigliani (1884–1920). The session will showcase the catalogue’s key features, demonstrating how the platform advances our understanding of Modigliani and serves as a model for similar future projects on other artists.

An audience Q&A will follow the presentation.

Exhibition Talks bring specific works, themes, or questions into focus to enrich visitors’ experience of the Frick’s special exhibitions. Offered in connection with Ruffles & Ribbons: Fashion Plates from the Time of Marie Antoinette, this brief talk examines the many dimensions of Marie Antoinette’s fashion legacy by juxtaposing two fashion plates from the Gallerie des modes: one depicting the queen in an opulent court gown, the other presenting the informal white chemise that she popularized. This comparison highlights Marie Antoinette's strategic self-fashioning and reveals the complicated public reception of her style.

Drop in and create! Stop by the Ian Wardropper Education Room to make fashion accessories inspired by the special installation Ruffles & Ribbons: Fashion Plates from the Time of Marie Antoinette. Design buttons and embellishments using printed images—an eighteenth-century practice captured in the fashion plates—and learn how to sew a ribbon rosette, or cocarde, like those worn during the French Revolution.

This activity lasts around 30 to 45 minutes. No advance registration is required; space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All skill levels are welcome, and art materials will be provided. Experience with hand sewing will be helpful, but not necessary.

Director's Spotlight: Conservation at the Frick (Episode 1)

In this very first episode, Axel Rüger, Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Director, will join Chief Conservator Julia Day for a tour of the Frick’s new, state-of-the-art Sherman Fairchild Center for Art Conservation. The livestream will include a Q&A for the first 500 attendees on Zoom.
