DESCRIPTION:You’ve watched "Saturday Night Live" and you tune in to Come
dy Central every night for "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report." Bu
t when it comes to satire\, you haven't seen the real thing until you ha
ve been to the Capitol Steps.\n\nThe only group in America that attempts
to be funnier than Congress\, Capitol Steps is a troupe of current and
former Congressional staffers who monitor events and personalities on Ca
pitol Hill\, in the Oval Office\, and in other centers of power and pres
tige around the world --and take a humorous look at serious issues while
providing a nationwide laugh for millions.\n\nThis show is constantly c
hanging to keep up with the latest headlines\, but unlike "SNL" and "The
Daily Show\," the actors and actresses in this show sing their satire.
The show features songs that would make Weird Al Yankovic proud! The mat
erial\, however\, is fresh and bipartisan. As they say\, "We make fun of
  everybody."

floor area ratios\, height and stories\, and grading limits.\n\nThis is
your opportunity to learn more and to share your thoughts on the Departm

DESCRIPTION:Come join us in a series of public workshops throughout the
City of Los Angeles for a presentation and discussion on proposed new re
gulations for single-family homes in hillside neighborhoods.\n\nThe Depa

d ultimately address key issues raised by various communities including
floor area ratios\, height and stories\, and grading limits.\n\nThis is
your opportunity to learn more and to share your thoughts on the Departm
ent’s citywide proposal. Your input will help staff identify concerns wi

rts will ultimately result in proposed Code Amendments affecting single-
family development in the City’s Hillside Areas. Please feel free to att

DESCRIPTION:Special Forum on "Campaign Finance Reform: Where to Now?"
Hosted by Los Angeles Councilmember José Huizar\n\nExperts say the
recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the case of Citizens United v. Feder
al Elections Commission will change the way campaigns are financed and f
urther increase the role of money in our elections. \n \nIn the past de
cade\, the City of Los Angeles has reviewed various scenarios for the pu
blic financing of City campaigns. It is the right time to once again ex
plore the issue. I am planning to hold a special forum on campaign fina
nce reform on Thursday\, March 4\, 2010 here at City Hall to look at the
situation and come up with potential policy solutions.\n \n"Campaign Fi

DESCRIPTION:Timothy Ying\, Violin | Janet Ying\, Violin| Phillip Ying\,
 Viola| David Ying\, Cello\n\nThe Grammy-winning Ying Quartet occupies a
position of unique prominence in the classical music world. Its performa
nces take place in many of the world’s most important concert halls\; at
the same time\, the quartet’s belief that music can be a meaningful par
t of everyday life has also drawn its four members to perform in setting
s as diverse as Chinese restaurants and juvenile prisons.\n\nNow in thei
r second decade as a quartet\, the Yings have established themselves as
an ensemble of the highest musical qualifications in their tours across
the United States and abroad. Their performances regularly take place in
many of the world’s most important concert halls\, from Carnegie Hall t
o the Sydney Opera House.\n\nThe Ying Quartet first came to professional
prominence in the early 1990s during its years as resident quartet of J
esup\, Iowa\, a farm town of only 2\,000 people. Playing before audience
 s of six to 600 in homes\, schools\, churches\, and banks\, the quartet
had its first opportunities to enable music as an integral part of commu
nity life.\n\nThe quartet considers its time in Jesup the foundation of
its present musical life and goals.\n\nAs quartet-in-residence at the Ea
stman School of Music\, the Ying Quartet teaches in the string departmen
t and leads a rigorous\, sequentially designed chamber music program. Fr
om 2001 to 2008\, the Ying Quartet has also been the Blodgett Artist-in-
 Residence at Harvard University.

DESCRIPTION:Beyond his award-winning records\, Ricky Skaggs continues to
lead the charge in bringing renewed vitality to country music¹s most do
wn-to-earth art form\, and has become one of bluegrass¹ most talented an
d dynamic performers<carrying this lively\, distinctively American form
of music to the hearts of audiences across the country.\n\nSometimes in
life\, things come full circle. That's the story of Ricky Skaggs. By age
21\, he was already considered a "recognized master" of one of America'
s most demanding art forms--Bluegrass-- but his career took him in other
directions\, catapulting him to popularity and success in the mainstrea
m of country music. Now the road has brought him back to where it all be
 gan!\n\n2010 will mark Ricky's 39th year as a professional musician\, an
d this 14-time Grammy Award winner continues to do his part to lead the
recent roots revival in music. Known affectionately today as bluegrass m
usic's official ambassador\, Ricky has brought the genre to greater leve
ls of popularity in the past few years than the father of bluegrass musi
c - the legendary Bill Monroe - could ever have imagined.\n\nWith ten co
nsecutive Blue Grass Grammy- nominated classics behind him\, all from hi
s own Skaggs Family Records label\, bluegrass music is undoubtedly in go
od hands\, with the masterful Skaggs at the helm.\n\nSpeaking of his ban
d\, Kentucky Thunder\, "This group of guys meets my approval every night
\," Ricky says. "Each and every one of the pickers totally amazes me in
every show...and that\, to me\, outweighs any award we could ever win."
The all-star lineup of Kentucky Thunder includes Andy Leftwich (fiddle)
\, Cody Kilby (lead guitar)\, Mark Fain (bass)\, Paul Brewster (tenor vo
 cals\, rhythm guitar)\, Ben Helson (baritone vocals\, rhythm guitar)\, a
nd Jim Mills (banjo).\n\nRicky Skaggs has often said that he is "just tr
ying to make a living" playing the music he loves. But it's clear that h
is passion for bluegrass puts him in the position to bring this lively\,
distinctively American form of music out of isolation and into the ears
and hearts of audiences across the country and around the world. Blesse
 d with a close-knit family\, an abundance of talent\, a lifetime of musi
cal experience and a crack band behind him\, Ricky Skaggs is well on the
way to showing the world that "country rocks\, but Bluegrass Rules!"
