The many dimensions of breathing are better understood when its basic biological mechanisms have been unraveled. What is good breathing? How can it be cultivated? Answers to these questions make breathing an instrument of healing and wellbeing.
Yoga Nidra and the Art of Relaxation

Himalayan Institute
Friday, July 19 – Sunday, July 21, 2013

Presenter: Rolf Sovik, PsyD
Description: The distinctive practice of yoga nidra (yogic sleep) was brought from the cave monasteries of the Himalayas by Swami Rama, founder of the Himalayan Institute. Among all the techniques of yoga and meditation, this practice is unique. It combines relaxation and meditation techniques with an unusual approach to body awareness called "Exercise Without Movement." The result is a process of traveling deeply within. Benefits of the practice include relaxation of the heart and skeletal muscles, systematic stress reduction, increased mastery of autonomic nervous system functioning, and a deep and conscious rest. Yoga nidra techniques are excellent for practitioners of all ages (although some tension/relaxation techniques are not recommended for those with untreated high blood pressure). Each weekend session will include systematic practice. This course is part of the new 100-Hour Advanced Yoga Sadhana Training for dedicated students and teachers.
Register Instructions: Free - Register now.
Premium Members: Free - Register now.
Seminar Schedule: Sample Weekend Seminar Schedule
