From high-powered Lamborghinis and Ferraris to fuel-efficient scooters, there’s something for everyone at the 16th annual Concours d’ Elegance Sunday, Aug. 31. Open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the judged exhibit of Italian automobiles will be at the Des Moines Marina, approximately 15 miles south of downtown Seattle. Visitors will see rare and historic Italian cars and motorcycles, as well as beautiful examples from more modern times. Admission is $5 per person, with children 10 and under admitted free.

In addition to the vehicles, the Concours will feature automotive and Italian-inspired merchandise, food and drink, plus a noon operatic performance and a raffle to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The featured prize at this year’s raffle is a 2008 “Buddy” 50cc Scooter, valued at $2,700, including paid tax, license and registration.

The Italian Concours d' Elegance offers a daylong celebration of Italian engineering, design and style at its best. It is an opportunity to view a diverse collection of vehicles from Italian companies such as Alfa Romeo, Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Moto Guzzi and Vespa. The Northwest has some of the most dedicated collectors of both Italian cars and motorcycles, and many have won awards at prestigious events such as the Pebble Beach Concours.

For 2008, the Italian Concours will feature the combined marques of FIAT, Lancia and Abarth.
