The winner of four Tony Awards, including Best Play, and the Pulitzer Prize, Lost in Yonkers is a remarkable coming of age story. Two young brothers are forced to enter a dysfunctional household consisting of their formidable grandmother, their dim-witted aunt, and their Uncle Louie, a small-time thug. As comical as it is poignant, this Neil Simon masterwork is an examination of lives in an oppressive household, with a dramatic climax that is certain to leave you spellbound.

Bellingham Society of Model Engineers Open House

Mark your calendars. The Bellingham Society of Model Engineers (BSME) will
hold its next open house on Sunday, March 14, from 12:30pm to 4:30pm at our location in the former Alger Grange.

Members continue to make lots of changes and additions to both the HO-scale and N-scale layouts. Come see what's new.

And Saturday should be a perfect opportunity to ride the 7.5-inch gauge outdoor railway (weather permitting).

What better way to spend a nice Sunday afternoon than with your family visiting one of the best model train layouts in Washington State?

The BSME HO- and N-scale layouts now include more track, trains, scenery, and sounds than ever before. Come see and hear for yourself. Come see all the trains and meet the people who build and operate the BSME’s two huge layouts. There will be lots of model railroading action to entertain children and adults alike.

Of course, there's still plenty of work yet to be done, which means that you can also see first hand how these layouts are being constructed.

The BSME is located at...

1469 Silver Run Lane, which is less than a mile east of I-5 exit 240, approximately 10 miles south of downtown Bellingham. The BSME is located adjacent to the Alger Community Church.

Our facility is completely accessible and has on-site parking.

To visit the BSME, take Interstate 5 to exit 240. Go east on Lake Samish Road approximately 1/2 mile. At the stop sign, turn left onto Old Highway 99. The BSME is located on the right, approximately 1/4 mile north, adjacent to the Alger Community Church.

Maps and detailed driving directions as well as additional information is available on our website at www.bsme.org

Spring Wine Classes at Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar-Bellevue

SPRING HAS SPRUNG, THE GRASS IS RIS. WE WONDERS WHERE THE WINE HACKS IS?
Seastar’s Dashing Duo Is Back with a New Series of Wine Classes

Erik Liedholm and sommelier accomplice Lars Ryssdal are up to more fun and games this spring with a series of tasty and educational wine classes to enlighten the palate as well as the mind. The 2010 eno-academic semester at Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar in Bellevue will begin by exploring the fabled Northern Italian regions of Piedmont and Tuscany, for the first time in Wine School history. On Tuesday, March 16th, the self-dubbed “Scandinavian Wine Hacks” will discuss the attributes that make this area so legendary and lead a tasting that includes Piedmont’s magnificent Gaja, Giacosa, and La Spinetta wines alongside Tuscan giants like Antinori, Tenuta san Guido, Isole e Olena, and more.

It has been many years since Erik and Lars last visited Bordeaux in the classroom, but it will be well worth the wait. They have assembled a line up of Right and Left Bank Bordeaux that would make a grown man (or woman) weep. On Tuesday, April 6th, students will learn their way around this celebrated region of Southern France by tasting through the classified growths of the Medoc, the killer crus of St. Emillon, the richness of Pomerol and the terrior of Graves.

The final class focuses on the Pacific Northwest and the question “So, of all the great wines produced in Washington and Oregon, which one is best?” On Tuesday, May 4th, attendees will make the call at a blind tasting and judging of the greatest wines that our region has to offer.

Classes are priced at $90 each or $240 for the three-class series (plus tax). Reservations are required and space is limited. All classes begin at 6:30 pm and run for approximately two hours. Students must be at least 21 years young.
