Crazy Quilts: Puzzle Patches and Fanciful Embroidery

The White River Valley Museum celebrates the Victorian tradition of crazy quilting with a series of events, including the exhibit “Crazy Quilts: Puzzle Patches and Fanciful Embroidery” open now through Aug. 10.

“Crazy Quilts” features a collection of 30 quilts, garments and other items made with the crazy quilting method, most dating from 1880 to 1920. The exhibit is organized by guest curator, quilter and storyteller Anita Sheneberger who spent more than four months traveling the back roads of Western Washington to acquire this rare collection of quilts.

Regular museum admission for the exhibit is $2 adults, $1 children and seniors.

The White River Valley Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon – 4 p.m. Admission is free on Wednesdays. Call 253-288-7433 or visit www.wrvmuseum.org for event information.

Seattle Swing Dance Club Newcomer Event

Work will involve clearing storm debris and repairing trail tread and facilities in the vicinity of Coldwater Lake and Johnston Ridge. Efforts will focus on the Boundary, South Coldwater and Lakes Trails. Volunteers should bring work gloves and come prepared for rain or shine weather. For volunteers interested in working both days, there will be an optional Saturday night potluck dinner and camp out at our employee housing area. Work party volunteers are also invited to attend our Saturday night Mount St. Helens Stargazing Spectacular Field Seminar with Vancouver Sidewalk Astronomers at no cost.

This is a family doubles events with skill specific levels. 6.0, 7.0, 8.0. One adult 21 and up playing with one youth 18 and younger. Held on the tennis courts onsite. This is a three day tournament Wed-Friday evening hours. Contact the host for more information and questions of skill level.
