The All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church (ASUUC) Arts and Aesthetics Team has mounted an art exhibit by artist Jennifer Azadmanesh now showing on the walls of ASUUC’s Great Hall. Reception for the artist will take place in ASUUC’s Small Hall from 12 - 2 on Sunday, November 15th.

This transplant artist from New York brings the viewer closer to an appreciatgion of everyday objects by adding a twist and abstraction to the still life. She over-dramatizes the color, shape, and composition so that the viewer will moreclosely analyze and appreciate the mundane.

Amuse - Early Instrument Ensemble

The First Christian Church Concert Series is presenting “Love: So Fair, So Sweet, So Cruel”, played by Amuse, an early instrument ensemble. They will perform music from the Medieval to the Baroque on recorders of all sizes, regal, dulcian, harpsichord and organ. A free will offering will be taken.

Dancing with the theme of love, Amuse presents a concert laden with heartache, flirtations, sorrow, and resolution. Playing early instruments such as recorders, harpsichord. regal, dulcian, and organ, the program begins with an energetic medieval Estampie, then moves into the Renaissance with Orlando de Lasso and a suite of Hans Gerle pieces which tells a love story. Then it is on to the Baroque with a lively suite by Henry Purcell and a concerto by Antonio Vivaldi. Come join us for an afternoon of love songs of the heavens and the earth.

The performers are: Nancy Ekberg, Susan Virga, Ria Van der Heijde-Zomerdijk and Emily Chan, recorders; William Adams, recorders, dulcian, regal, and harpsichord; Carol Wilson, organ and harpsichord.

Celebrate life and honor loved ones at the Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care Trees of Life Tree Lighting Ceremony. We invite the entire community to join us in remembering those we love and those we have lost. Each of the Trees of Life is covered in lights, and behind every light is a story – a story of a loved one who shines on in our memories.

Loved ones’ names provided at the event will be read in remembrance. We will also pay tribute to the military and our local community protectors as we illuminate special red, white and blue trees in their honor.

The Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts (TLCA) is proud to present a concert featuring Palmer Divide Bluegrass Band. Palmer Divide formed as a band with the single goal of not being just another bluegrass cover band. The band was created by merging members from several other successful bands: Black Rose, Mountain Heritage, Lost Creek, and White Lightning. With their own approach to acoustic music Palmer Divide offers up their brand of acoustic music with well crafted lyrics, innovative and rock solid instrumentation, and tight three-part harmonies. Their unique yet hauntingly familiar sound pulls from their deep respect of traditional bluegrass music as well as their desire to create a modern acoustic sound that is all their own.

The members of Palmer Divide are Jody Adams (Vocals/Mandolin/Fiddle/Guitar); Dick Carlson (Upright Bass); Greg Reed (Vocals/Guitar/Mandolin); and Mickey Stinnett (Vocals/Resonator Guitar/Banjo). Their individual and collective resumes include such highlights as multiple performances at the White House, the Grand Ole Opry, and The Nashville Network, as well as winning the SPBGMA Mandolin Player of the Year, the Deer Creek Fiddlers Convention Dobro competition, and the Rockygrass Bluegrass Band competition. It’s easy to see what the buzz is about. Palmer Divide's featured songwriter, Jody Adams, routinely has tunes being featured on CMT, MTV, Access Hollywood, A&E, Fox Sports, the WB Network, ESPN, as well as having written the theme song for Bill Bennett's Radio Show ”Morning in America.” Several of his songs have also been featured on NBC’s “Friday Night Lights.” Visit their website at: www.palmerdivide.com/

Performing at Stargazers Theatre on November 21st will be singer/songwriter Chuck Pyle. An accomplished songwriter, Chuck's songs have been recorded by John Denver, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Suzy Bogguss. While fans love his recordings, they adore Chuck's live performance. A nimble guitarist, critics say his sense of rhythm is more like a fine classical, or jazz, soloist, his songwriting musically sophisticated yet full of uncluttered space. The Chuck Pyle Finger-Style approach to guitar has distinguished him as a true original, earning him invitations to teach at such prestigious events as The Puget Sound Guitar Workshop and The Swannanoa Gathering. Chuck Pyle has won high praise from both fans and peers alike throughout an inspired performance career of over 40 years.
Opening for Chuck Pyle will be Colorado Springs own Phil Volan and Joleen Bell. This accomplished duo is well known for their beautiful acoustic arrangements and highly skilled fingerstyle guitar.

No experience required. You will learn the rudimentary skills necessary to move you across the floor, and look good doing it.

Skilled Instructors James & Victoria Stowell teach weekly group classes, private lessons and wedding choreography. We are recognized by DVIDA (Dance Vision International Dance Association), and teach according to the DVIDA syllabus - the standard in top ballroom competitions.

Single? No need to have a partner!!! Come to our classes on Friday Nights.

Intermediate Class: 7:00PM.

Modules include responsibilities of babysitters, job interviews, child development, infant care, accident prevention, first aid, rescue breathing, choking victims, handling strangers at the door and on the phone, changing diapers and checking a conscious/unconscious child/infant. This course does not include CPR.
