Classical Japanese Martial Art-Takeuchi Ryu

Takeuchi-ryu is a traditional Japanese martial arts system founded in 1532, originally for use by samurai in battlefield combat. The school teaches a variety of armed and unarmed techniques of self defense and restraint of attackers.

Training includes: Staff weapons such as kenbo, shinbo and naginata ; edged weapons including sword, kogusoku; jujutsu; basic body movements ; and meditation and mental concepts that are the foundations of traditional, classical Japanese budo (martial ways).

We welcome those over the age of 16, regardless of martial arts background, to train. Women and men through the ages have benefited from this training.

There is no fee for the classes. There is an opportunity for trainees to make voluntary donations ( in an amount of their choice ) to defray space rental and training equipment costs.

Training is barefoot. Please wear sweats or similar clothing for ease of movement and comfort.

Bring 3 cans of food, get a free Dutch Bros. coffee drink on Valentine's Day

Bring three cans of non-perishable food to Dutch Bros. on Valentine's Day and get a free 16 oz. coffee or special drink in the 5th annual "Dutch Luv: Cans for Coffee" food drive. The offer is good all day Feb. 14 at all 30 Jackson and Josephine County Dutch Bros. locations. Food donated in Jackson County goes to feed the hungry through the ACCESS Food Share Pantry Network of 25 pantries; donations in Josephine County go to the Josephine County Food Bank for local residents.

Foods rich in protein are needed, including peanut butter, canned tuna, canned meat, canned vegetables, fruits, and beans. However, donations of any non-perishable food items such as rice, pasta, cold and hot cereals, soup, chili, stew, macaroni and cheese, flour, and oats are always a big help.

People can also make a secure financial donation to ACCESS online at www.accesshelps.org. Click the "Donate Now" button, and enter "Dutch" in the dedication field ("on behalf of"). Online donations can be made to the Josephine County Food Bank at ucancap.org, then click on "Donate."

The Fit Kids class is a fun strenghth and agility training class for kids. The goal is to fight childhood obesity by inspiring kids at a young age to find the love of fitness. By incorporating movement at a young age, chances are they'll stay active into adulthood. The class will introduce the kids to different sports, basic circuit workouts, boxing, obstacle training, fun competitive games ... etc. The workout includes a warmup, an active workout using kid friendly workouts and cool down.

External accountability to the world community and internal responsibilities will be debated. The River Exchange brings you an “Identifying Western Birds of Prey” workshop on Thursday, February 16th from 6pm to 8:30pm at the Mount Shasta City Park‘s Lower Lodge. The workshop is for anyone who wants to learn how to properly identify birds of prey in the field, such as red-tailed hawks, northern goshawks, and others. This presentation is a great foundation to the River Exchange’s Bald Eagle and Winter Waterfowl Field Trip to the Klamath Basin Wildlife Refuge on February 25th.

Directions: Take I-5 to exit 740 into Mt. Shasta City. Go only a half-mile and take the first right onto Nixon Road, go over the railroad tracks and make an immediate right into Mount Shasta City Park.
