dance style\, transforming the stage into a sacred space and invoking a
 deep connection to the Earth.

DESCRIPTION:Anyone who has listened to Rio Clemente play piano\, comes a
way in awe. This master pianist mixes a strong classical background with
a rich knowledge of jazz history\, then adds an amazing sense of creati
vity and interpretation. The result is music that is different from othe
rs\, and nearly always produces a standing ovation and cries for "more."
When reviewers stumble for words to describe his work\, it's because wo
rds fail to convey the rich depth of character\, nimble facility of play
and ease with which his music is crafted and performed. The man brings
something very special and decidedly unequaled to the piano.

DESCRIPTION:Rich Deans is a most fascinating songwriter\, writing songs
that are more like novellas set to haunting melodies evocative of days p
ast. They are story- and character-driven\, and often find their setting
s in historical fiction. His most widely-known song is "Don't Dig My Gra
ve Too Deep\," as recorded by Pat Wictor. Opening tonight are The Folk G
oddesses\, a band that John Platt of WFUV referred to as "Modern Man on
Estrogen." Hillary Foxsong (Gathering Time)\, Martha Trachtenberg (Buffa
lo Gals)\, and Judith Zweiman (Strike the Bell) combine great voices\, g
ood songwriting\, and a wicked sense of humor in this new combination.
