DESCRIPTION:The Coffee Mill walls are newly decorated with art paired up
  with the poetry of Rumi. Woodruff’s art reproductions include collages 
 with Chinese brush painting on rice paper combined with pressed flowers 
 and leaves.  Her paintings of nature are usually best captured in her ve
 ry fluid watercolor style\, while her more imaginative and detailed draw
 ings use pastel on velour paper.  Her work often blends images\; such as
  babies faces laughing out of the center of roses\, or a woman’s hair me
 rging with a beaming sun and clouds\, or a hand strumming a full moon ba
 njo.  Woodruff said\, “I feel like the 13th century poet\, Rumi\, was ta
 lking directly to me when he wrote\, "Hundreds of thousands of impressio
 ns from the invisible world are eagerly wanting to come through you. I g
 et dizzy with the abundance."  \n\nSo if you need a little inspiration t

 has worked to showcase and be inclusive of the rich variety of local vis
 ual artists and crafts people.  “We wanted to bring the collective wisdo
 m of the established artists together with the enthusiasm and energy of 
 the emerging artist and the entrepreneurial spirit of local art business
 es.  Among the various work included in the show are the large colorful 
 oil paintings of African women by Pat Dougherty based on the photographs
  of a friend and missionary priest.  Other works include Christian icons
  in the Coptic tradition of Egypt\, Ethiopia and Eritrea by Patrick Elli
 s\, abstract mixed media assemblages and painted photographs by Sandee J
 ohnson\, and playful wire-art birds by Nancy Laurent Other local artists
  include Revelle Hamilton\, Ryan Higginbotham\, Joe Woodford\, Dottie St
 one\, Pidge Morgan\, and Christina Aviles.    Ann van de Graaf\, from Ly
 nchburg’s Africa House and Violet O. Mitchell’s co-founder of SANKOFA AR
 TS have collected work from Lynchburg artists that follow the theme.

  and Exhibition Coordinator Sandee Shaffer Johnson\, the planning group 
 has worked to showcase and be inclusive of the rich variety of local vis
 ual artists and crafts people.  “We wanted to bring the collective wisdo
 m of the established artists together with the enthusiasm and energy of 
 the emerging artist and the entrepreneurial spirit of local art business
 es.  Among the various work included in the show are the large colorful 
 oil paintings of African women by Pat Dougherty based on the photographs
  of a friend and missionary priest.  Other works include Christian icons
  in the Coptic tradition of Egypt\, Ethiopia and Eritrea by Patrick Elli
 s\, abstract mixed media assemblages and painted photographs by Sandee J
 ohnson\, and playful wire-art birds by Nancy Laurent Other local artists
  include Revelle Hamilton\, Ryan Higginbotham\, Joe Woodford\, Dottie St
 one\, Pidge Morgan\, and Christina Aviles.    Ann van de Graaf\, from Ly
 nchburg’s Africa House and Violet O. Mitchell’s co-founder of SANKOFA AR

 m of the established artists together with the enthusiasm and energy of 
 the emerging artist and the entrepreneurial spirit of local art business
 es.  Among the various work included in the show are the large colorful 
 oil paintings of African women by Pat Dougherty based on the photographs
  of a friend and missionary priest.  Other works include Christian icons
  in the Coptic tradition of Egypt\, Ethiopia and Eritrea by Patrick Elli
 s\, abstract mixed media assemblages and painted photographs by Sandee J
 ohnson\, and playful wire-art birds by Nancy Laurent Other local artists
  include Revelle Hamilton\, Ryan Higginbotham\, Joe Woodford\, Dottie St
 one\, Pidge Morgan\, and Christina Aviles.    Ann van de Graaf\, from Ly

 ers to plan an exciting season of art exhibitions and accompanying progr
 ams.  Under the leadership of the Center’s Interim Director Sara Braaten
  and Exhibition Coordinator Sandee Shaffer Johnson\, the planning group 
 has worked to showcase and be inclusive of the rich variety of local vis
 ual artists and crafts people.  “We wanted to bring the collective wisdo
 m of the established artists together with the enthusiasm and energy of 
 the emerging artist and the entrepreneurial spirit of local art business
 es.  Among the various work included in the show are the large colorful 
 oil paintings of African women by Pat Dougherty based on the photographs
  of a friend and missionary priest.  Other works include Christian icons
  in the Coptic tradition of Egypt\, Ethiopia and Eritrea by Patrick Elli
 s\, abstract mixed media assemblages and painted photographs by Sandee J
 ohnson\, and playful wire-art birds by Nancy Laurent Other local artists
  include Revelle Hamilton\, Ryan Higginbotham\, Joe Woodford\, Dottie St
 one\, Pidge Morgan\, and Christina Aviles.    Ann van de Graaf\, from Ly
 nchburg’s Africa House and Violet O. Mitchell’s co-founder of SANKOFA AR
 TS have collected work from Lynchburg artists that follow the theme.

DESCRIPTION:For the past several months\, the Bower Center for the Art h
 as worked with a group of local artists\, business people and civic lead
 ers to plan an exciting season of art exhibitions and accompanying progr
 ams.  Under the leadership of the Center’s Interim Director Sara Braaten
  and Exhibition Coordinator Sandee Shaffer Johnson\, the planning group 
 has worked to showcase and be inclusive of the rich variety of local vis
 ual artists and crafts people.  “We wanted to bring the collective wisdo
 m of the established artists together with the enthusiasm and energy of 
 the emerging artist and the entrepreneurial spirit of local art business
 es.  Among the various work included in the show are the large colorful 
 oil paintings of African women by Pat Dougherty based on the photographs
  of a friend and missionary priest.  Other works include Christian icons
  in the Coptic tradition of Egypt\, Ethiopia and Eritrea by Patrick Elli
 s\, abstract mixed media assemblages and painted photographs by Sandee J
 ohnson\, and playful wire-art birds by Nancy Laurent Other local artists
  include Revelle Hamilton\, Ryan Higginbotham\, Joe Woodford\, Dottie St
 one\, Pidge Morgan\, and Christina Aviles.    Ann van de Graaf\, from Ly
 nchburg’s Africa House and Violet O. Mitchell’s co-founder of SANKOFA AR
 TS have collected work from Lynchburg artists that follow the theme.

  and Exhibition Coordinator Sandee Shaffer Johnson\, the planning group 
 has worked to showcase and be inclusive of the rich variety of local vis
 ual artists and crafts people.  “We wanted to bring the collective wisdo
 m of the established artists together with the enthusiasm and energy of 
 the emerging artist and the entrepreneurial spirit of local art business
 es.  Among the various work included in the show are the large colorful 
 oil paintings of African women by Pat Dougherty based on the photographs
  of a friend and missionary priest.  Other works include Christian icons
  in the Coptic tradition of Egypt\, Ethiopia and Eritrea by Patrick Elli
 s\, abstract mixed media assemblages and painted photographs by Sandee J
 ohnson\, and playful wire-art birds by Nancy Laurent Other local artists
  include Revelle Hamilton\, Ryan Higginbotham\, Joe Woodford\, Dottie St
 one\, Pidge Morgan\, and Christina Aviles.    Ann van de Graaf\, from Ly

 as worked with a group of local artists\, business people and civic lead
 ers to plan an exciting season of art exhibitions and accompanying progr
 ams.  Under the leadership of the Center’s Interim Director Sara Braaten
  and Exhibition Coordinator Sandee Shaffer Johnson\, the planning group 
 has worked to showcase and be inclusive of the rich variety of local vis
 ual artists and crafts people.  “We wanted to bring the collective wisdo
 m of the established artists together with the enthusiasm and energy of 
 the emerging artist and the entrepreneurial spirit of local art business
 es.  Among the various work included in the show are the large colorful 
 oil paintings of African women by Pat Dougherty based on the photographs
  of a friend and missionary priest.  Other works include Christian icons
  in the Coptic tradition of Egypt\, Ethiopia and Eritrea by Patrick Elli
 s\, abstract mixed media assemblages and painted photographs by Sandee J
 ohnson\, and playful wire-art birds by Nancy Laurent Other local artists
  include Revelle Hamilton\, Ryan Higginbotham\, Joe Woodford\, Dottie St
 one\, Pidge Morgan\, and Christina Aviles.    Ann van de Graaf\, from Ly
 nchburg’s Africa House and Violet O. Mitchell’s co-founder of SANKOFA AR
 TS have collected work from Lynchburg artists that follow the theme.

DESCRIPTION:For the past several months\, the Bower Center for the Art h
 as worked with a group of local artists\, business people and civic lead
 ers to plan an exciting season of art exhibitions and accompanying progr
 ams.  Under the leadership of the Center’s Interim Director Sara Braaten
  and Exhibition Coordinator Sandee Shaffer Johnson\, the planning group 
 has worked to showcase and be inclusive of the rich variety of local vis
 ual artists and crafts people.  “We wanted to bring the collective wisdo
 m of the established artists together with the enthusiasm and energy of 
 the emerging artist and the entrepreneurial spirit of local art business
 es.  Among the various work included in the show are the large colorful 
 oil paintings of African women by Pat Dougherty based on the photographs
  of a friend and missionary priest.  Other works include Christian icons
  in the Coptic tradition of Egypt\, Ethiopia and Eritrea by Patrick Elli
 s\, abstract mixed media assemblages and painted photographs by Sandee J
 ohnson\, and playful wire-art birds by Nancy Laurent Other local artists
  include Revelle Hamilton\, Ryan Higginbotham\, Joe Woodford\, Dottie St
 one\, Pidge Morgan\, and Christina Aviles.    Ann van de Graaf\, from Ly
 nchburg’s Africa House and Violet O. Mitchell’s co-founder of SANKOFA AR
 TS have collected work from Lynchburg artists that follow the theme.
