The North Platte Home Builders Association is moving the Home Show back into February.
Dates for the 2012 show will be February 17-18-19 at the Quality Inn Sandhills Convention Center. Anyone interested in receiving an information/reservation packet is asked to e-mail their mailing address to

There is a bus scheduled to travel to Lincoln February 21st and we have a few seats available for Chamber & Development members to reserve space.

You are invited to join in honoring Senator Tom Hansen.

The cost of the trip will be $20 per person and includes transportation by bus, all activities scheduled for the day and lunch with the Nebraska State Senators held at the NESA Board Room.

The tentative agenda for the day is shown below.

6:00 am bus will be available to load and leave North Platte by 6:30 am.

Lunch will be around noon with our Senators in honor of Senator Tom Hansen in the NESA Floor Board Room.
Leave Lincoln around 3:00pm-4:00pm and arrive back in North Platte around 7:00pm.

Bring a pot of your favorite chili (or whatever your favorite soup might be) or your favorite fixin’s to go with it.

Celtic Guitarist Jerry Barlow

Barlow is a warm, accessible performer and storyteller. His unique and skillfully delivered repertoire incorporates favorite traditional pieces as well as his own Celtic-inspired compositions. His expressive arrangements of lively jigs, spirited reels, and haunting airs have been described as music to soothe the soul, warm the heart and lift the spirit…cultural enrichment through music, story and laughter. Barlow’s music can be heard regularly on many National Public Radio stations. He has been featured in Fingerstyle Guitar magazine, and was profiled in the February, 2011, issue of Celtic Connection. The Children’s Theatre Company of South Dakota (CTSD) is once again returning to the North Platte Community Playhouse. This year’s production is, Imagine Nation!
It’s time for another family reunion and Brother, Sister and Little Brother couldn’t be more bored! What is there to do at Grandma’s old farm anyway! Just as they suspected, NOTHING! Until, Brother conjures up a purple-yellow-polka-dotted monster!
Auditions are open to all students in Grades 3-8.
• Auditions will be held MONDAY MARCH 5, at 4:00PM. (Auditions will be held in the Patty Birge room at the North Platte Community Playhouse, 301 E. 5th.
• Participation in the workshop is FREE.
• Up to 50 students will be selected by CTSD, to participate in the workshop.
• Rehearsals will begin immediately following auditions for those students selected to participate.
• Rehearsals will be held from 4:00PM-8:00PM for the remainder of the week.
• There will be two performances, Friday March 9 at 7:00PM and Saturday March 10 at 2:00PM
• Admission to the performances will be a free-will donation to support The North Platte Community Playhouse.

Each year the women host an auction to raise funds for world projects. We are seeking new and gently used items for our Annual World Services Auction on Wednesday, March 7th, 6:30 p.m. We are looking for professional services, furniture, appliances, household items, recreation or play equipment, jewelry or any other items that are in good to excellent condition. No clothing or items needing repairs are needed. This class builds on the skills learned in Beginning Microsoft Word, giving you more hands-on practice. You will learn to use the Office Clipboard, make other editing changes to documents before printing, and to print envelopes and labels. Prerequisite: Microsoft Word 2007 Beginning Skills 1 and mouse skills.

Class size is limited to 5 people. Minimum class size is 3 people.

Each two-hour class costs $5.

You must pre-register for the classes. Please call the library's Technology Learning Center at 308-535-8036 or stop by the library at 120 W 4th Street for more information and to pre-register for classes.

Registration begins Monday, January 30th.

NPCC "Souper Bowl"

North Platte Community College’s “Souper Bowl - Soup for the Stars,” organized by the NPCC Student Senate, is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 9, at the Platte River Mall, across from The Buckle.

The annual “Souper Bowl” is a homemade soup cook-off competition and homemade soup bowl auction. This year’s event is supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Contestants will have the chance to not only win the best soup title, but an award will go to the best table décor as well. For more information or to RSVP for the competition (by Feb. 29 please), contact Sky Seery at (308) 525-3727.

The Children’s Theatre Company of South Dakota (CTSD) is once again returning to the North Platte Community Playhouse. This year’s production is, Imagine Nation!
It’s time for another family reunion and Brother, Sister and Little Brother couldn’t be more bored! What is there to do at Grandma’s old farm anyway! Just as they suspected, NOTHING! Until, Brother conjures up a purple-yellow-polka-dotted monster!
Auditions are open to all students in Grades 3-8.
• Auditions will be held MONDAY MARCH 5, at 4:00PM. (Auditions will be held in the Patty Birge room at the North Platte Community Playhouse, 301 E. 5th.
• Participation in the workshop is FREE.
• Up to 50 students will be selected by CTSD, to participate in the workshop.
• Rehearsals will begin immediately following auditions for those students selected to participate.
• Rehearsals will be held from 4:00PM-8:00PM for the remainder of the week.
• There will be two performances, Friday March 9 at 7:00PM and Saturday March 10 at 2:00PM
• Admission to the performances will be a free-will donation to support The North Platte Community Playhouse.
