Historic Preservation Scavenger Hunt

Become more aware of historic architecture in Ogden by participating in the annual Historic Preservation Scavenger Hunt. As part of National Preservation Month in May, the Weber Heritage Foundation and the Ogden City Landmarks Commission will sponsor the annual scavenger hunt complete with drawings and prizes.

Hunt brochures will be available at the Planning Office at 2549 Washington Blvd #140 and at www.ogdencity.com beginning April 22. Completed entries are due May 13. Walk the Eccles Neighborhood to find the location of clues.

Answers and prizes will be announced May 16 at a reception held at the Daughters of Utah Pioneer Building along with a presentation detailing the history and relocation of the building last spring from 2148 Grant to 2104 Lincoln Ave. Call 801-629-8930 for more information.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1481 is hosting a dinner (6pm) and program (7pm) to recognize the service and sacrifice of all U.S. and Utah Law Enforcement Officers and also pay special recognition to those who have sacrificed their lives for the safety and protection of others.

The Golden Spike Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society has taken on the effort of restoring, Denver & Rio Grande Western railroad steam locomotive #223 to an operational engine.

Our restoration shops are located in the Trainmen’s Building of the historic Ogden Union Station in Ogden, UT. Work sessions are held there every Saturday morning starting at approximately 9:30 AM through early afternoon. Access the shops by driving to the North end of Union Station at 26th Street along the driveway between the building and Track 1 at the rear of the facility.
