Respect Training

OHSU leaders and managers are invited to attend a full-day “Respect” training. The training is designed to introduce engagement as a business management concept that assists in building a respectful culture.

The process focuses on personal accountability and responsibility to strengthen organizational performance and to align culture with diversity strategies.

The training will also provide participants with a fundamental understanding of how OHSU can strategically create a community of inclusion, in preparation for the development of mission-specific diversity action plans.

Tutorial Sessions will provide researchers and their staff with an overview of REDCap capabilities. Attendees will learn how to prepare and create REDCap databases and surveys.

Tutorials are held on the first and third Thursday of each month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Hatfield Research Center Room 12D03. Users who have already attended a Tutorial Session and need help with REDCap can attend drop-in sessions held every Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon in the same place -- Hatfield Research Center Room 12D03.

Latinos Unidos Organization, OHSU’s employee resource group for Latinos and their allies, invites the OHSU community to a talk by Gale Castillo, founder and president of the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber.

With more than 800 members, the Hispanic Chamber is the largest of its kind in the Northwest. Its primary mission is to work with all members of the community to increase the economic advancement of Latinos in Oregon and southwest Washington.

Ms. Castillo has worked in both the private and public sectors. She held
positions at AT&T and Pacific Northwest Bell, and is the co-owner of Cascade Centers, Inc., a national provider of staff development and
Employee Assistance Program services. Working for the State of Oregon, she managed the Oregon Economic Development Department’s Job Training Administration.

Currently, Ms. Castillo serves on the Linfield College Board of Trustees, the Portland Mayor’s Economic Cabinet, Multnomah County’s Business
Advisory Council, Metro’s Community Investment Initiative, and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Business Advisory Board.

She has a master’s degree from Portland State University, and attended the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government Executive
Education Program. Ms. Castillo is of Mexican-American descent and was raised in Oakland, California in an ethnically diverse community.

The goal of this symposium is to showcase cutting edge microscopy technologies that can be used to image biological systems at high resolution. Presentations and discussions will focus on imaging cellular systems in 4D, novel tools and probes for imaging, super-resolution microscopy (SRM), and correlated light and electron microscopy. The organization committee has invited researchers from OHSU and the local community to share how advanced imaging methods have transformed their understanding of different cellular systems, including cancer cells, neurons, and pathogenic bacteria. Psychiatry Grand Rounds provides continuing medical education for the target audience. To enable discussion that both is about and involves the patient so the physician can better understand the depth of one's mental illness. Explore the history of certain policies and procedures in place for handling mentally ill patients and what can happen to improve care and treatment that they receive. To better explain and expand on various forms of mental illness and how treatment should be approached and practiced by the clinician.
