Heber City will celebrate its 15th Annual Cowboy Poetry Gathering and Buckaroo Fair Nov. 3-8 by bringing in top cowboy legends in western entertainment. This years gathering will feature Michael Martin Murphey, Don Edwards, Gary McMahan, Baxter Black, Asleep at the Wheel, Riders in the Sky, Sons of the San Joaquin, the Bar J Wranglers and renowned cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell as the host.

New events this year include:
• The Buckaroo Ball Friday, Nov. 6, featuring Asleep at the Wheel, the Texas swing band in the country, and the Michael Martin Murphey band.
• The Exreme Mustang Makeover Saturday, Nov. 7, with 40 cowboys testing their training skills on wild mustangs.

Tickets for the Buckaroo Fair and continuous music and poetry are $10 at the door. A cowboy BBQ lunch and dinner is $13 for adults and $7 for children if purchased in advance, or $14 and $7 at the door. The 37th annual Park City Ski Swap & Sale will kick off Friday, Nov. 6, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse. The swap continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $8 on Friday night, $5 on Saturday and $2 on Sunday. Kids 12 and under are free.
Equipment can be dropped off Nov. 2-5 at Jans Mountain Outfitters or Cole Sport on Park Ave, or Nov. 6 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Fieldhouse.
Pick-up for unsold equipment is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

When his friends persuade him that the secret to success lies in convincing the world he's dead, Millet hatches a scheme which could make him rich, famous, and able to marry the girl of his dreams - if only he didn't have to be a corpse to do it!

The Salt Lake Symphony, under the direction of music director/conductor Robert Baldwin, will perform a concert of music imported from the British Isles on Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 pm at Libby Gardner Concert Hall on President’s Circle on the University of Utah campus. John Eckstein, acting associate principal cellist from the Utah Symphony, will join the orchestra for a performance of Elgar’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra. What do jade, chess, horses and Hinduism have in common? They were all exchanged on the Silk Road, of course! From the first millennium BCE through the second millennium CE, the Silk Road was a series of routes that crossed through Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. In the "Influences of the Silk Road" exhibit at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, visitors of all ages can explore objects from the Museum’s permanent collection that either traveled on the Silk Road or reflect the religions, technologies, and goods that were exchanged en route. Families and students will enjoy a treasure hunt through the exhibition and other galleries, get educational insight through an easy-to-use audio tour, and even test their skills in a game of chess. Proving they aren’t just fair-weather Westerners, the 7 Smart Fellers are returning to the region for a tour that will bring them back to three of their favorite venues from their summer tour. The Fellers, along with chief songwriter Dan Freund, have been busy since that tour – which took them to five states and covered 5,000 miles. October found them associated with musical icons including Willie Nelson and Neil Young as the featured act for Farm Aid Eve, an event to support America’s best-known musical benefit for family farmers. This fall, Freund and the Fellers have added to their dust-fueled mix of sincere originals and unexpected numbers from admired artists. As a former family farmer who now makes his home across the West, Freund writes with an authenticity built on personal experience. In this production - recently adapted by David Ives - Millet is a brilliant but impoverished painter, and he's a man with a singular problem: no one will pay good money for his paintings while he's still alive. When his friends persuade him that the secret to success lies in convincing the world he's dead, Millet hatches a scheme which could make him rich, famous, and able to marry the girl of his dreams - if only he didn't have to be a corpse to do it!
