Cast Off! - Free Public Sail

Our Cast Off! program allows visitors the chance to sail in classic boats.
The boats we use include: Admirable, a Bristol Bay Gillnetter, Amie, a Friendship sloop, Colleen Wagner, an Egret Sharpie, our long-boat Discovery, our New Haven Sharpie Betsy D, or a visiting classic.

Before and after your sail take a walk on the docks and discover the boats. Watch the volunteer crews rigging the boats. They’ll be happy to answer any question you might have, and you may even have a chance to help with the rigging!

We sail rain or shine, but wind conditions may keep us at the dock. Reservations are taken day-of-sail only at the CWB front desk. We do not accept phone reservations. This is a popular activity so please arrive early to reserve a spot on the boat.

Rock Climbing Service Project

Earn service hours by helping to run community center indoor rock climbing trips. We will begin on the Oct. 28t by teaching students how to belay and tie knots. During the following three events, O2 students will work as belayers during community center climbs. No experience necessary! You can get up to 20 community service hours and also participate in as many climbs as you like during this project.

* You must fill out the Vertical World Waiver (attached) to Participate.

Adult Co-Ed Dodgeball

Time to kick it old school! Come play the
game of dodgeball. All you need to know
is the three D's of dodgeball: duck, dive,
dodge. This is a great way to have fun with
friends, burn some calories, and relieve
stress. So turn off your computers, put on
your game face and join the fun. League
consists of 6 matches followed by a single
elimination tournament. A coed team must
play games with no more than 4 player of
the same gender with a total of six players
per game. A team roster can have as few as
6 players, or as many as 15 players, and is
required by October 1 to the International
District/Chinatown Community Center.
Game play is 45 minutes starting at 6:30
p.m., 7:20 p.m., and 8:10 p.m. Games are
self-offi ciated and all league games are
held at International District/Chinatown
Community Center. Fall team registration
closes on October 1, but individuals may
join a team until October 20.

October 17th, 2009 - Valentine's Performing Pigs: Valentines Performing Pigs is a unique, fast-paced act that consists of mini pigs doing tricks and incredible athletic feat. As music plays, the dazzling swiners dance, jump in the air, play catch with the audience, run up teeter totters, slam dunk basketballs, pop balloons, roll barrels and madly roar across the stage on scooters and skateboards! The audiences go HOG WILD! The show is 30 minutes followed by a “meet and greet” a pig session with the audience.

November 21st 2009 - Zambini Brothers Puppet Showcase: Laugh and learn at Zambini Brothers Puppet Showcase. This edu-tainment show has the puppets interacting with one another in short funny vignettes and then the kids get to learn about each puppet; what style of puppet they are (hand, rod, mouth, flat, giant, mask etc..), how they are made, and even a behind the stage demonstration of how they work. It’s a fun-filled time that is sure to educate and entertain kids of all ages.

December 19th - Family Gingerbread Houses: Work together as a family to create a no-bake, graham cracker gingerbread house for a special holiday centerpiece or just to eat. You’ll use a variety of candies, sprinkles, icing and more to create a unique house. All materials included for each family to make a house together to take home. Come and join the fun, and get into the holiday spirit!

This greenspace is a three acre site located just to the east of Chief Sealth High School. Once hugely overgrown with blackberries and garbage, walkers can now enjoy forested wetlands, winding trail, great views of the creek, a community garden and seating area beside a sensory garden. Volunteers continue to restore this beautiful section of trail and gardens.
