Grief Workshop at Wayne Memorial Hospital

Wayne Memorial Hospital
Tuesday, May 21, 2013, 1:30 – 3:30pm

Wayne Memorial Hospital is offering a six-week workshop designed to provide education and support in coping with the grieving process. The workshop will focus on grief as a normal part of an individual’s transition through life.
As a normal life cycle experience, grief can best be described as a distinctive cluster of common emotional, physical and spiritual reactions to loss. This description of grief in no way diminishes how traumatic a loss can be for the griever. Rather, “it says we can identify with each other as human beings who all struggle with the death of a loved one,” said Workshop Facilitator and Licensed Social Worker Neil Petrosky. “We have the ability to join together and help one another through this struggle.”
Noting that grief is a very individual process, Petrosky said the workshop will encourage participants to explore their own solutions to the challenges of living without their loved ones and dealing with the many changes that follow a loss. The workshop will provide a safe place in which individuals can sort out which activities and time tables are right for them.
Your experience will be enhanced by attending all six sessions; however, it is understandable if you cannot attend each session. The sessions will be held at Wayne Memorial Hospital from 1:30 to 3 PM on consecutive Tuesdays starting May 21st through June 25. The workshop will be offered free of charge. Workshop Co-facilitator will be Reverend William Rushik, a hospice chaplain and the pastor of South Canaan Free Methodist Church.
Participants are asked to complete a registration form, which can be found at www.wmh.org or by contacting Petrosky at (570) 253-8608. He is also available for questions.

Now, Harmony Presents, our local performing arts production team, showcases Gypsophilia in the historic Milford Theater at the conclusion of the Milford Music Festival on June 9th at 5:00 p.m. A reason to come in and of itself, The Milford Theater has recently been restored and beautified by Jerry Beaver of the Black Bear Film Festival.

Event promoter and managing director of Harmony Presents, Jill Carletti states, “Bringing unique and incredibly exciting performing arts to our corner of Northeast, PA is a fiery passion for us.
Learn About Forest Landowner Projects on Guided Tour

Grey Towers
Saturday, June 15, 2013, 9 – 10am

Enjoy Free Film at Grey Towers
MILFORD, PA – What is a “healthy” forest? What does a landowner do when insects are eating his trees? Why is it important for a landowner to plant trees along a stream? How can removing trees from forest land actually help the forest grow?
To find out the answers and more, consider participating in a driving tour on Saturday, June 15, of privately owned forested properties located within the Upper Delaware River Basin in northeast Pennsylvania. Learn how participation in the Common Waters Fund helps landowners conserve and manage their forests. Learn how healthy forests in this region provide clean drinking water for more than 15 million people downstream and how the health and existence of these forests are threatened by the pressures of development. Registration is required and limited to first 22 registrants. Vans leave from Grey Towers National Historic Site, 122 Old Owego Drive, Milford, PA, promptly at 9am and will return at 1 pm. Participants should bring lunch; water and juice will be provided. Call 570-296-9625 or email info@greytowers.org to reserve a spot.
Also on Saturday June 15, the public is invited to a free screening of an original WVIA documentary, Seeking the Greatest Good: The Conservation Legacy of Gifford Pinchot, that highlights Pinchot's philosophy of natural resource conservation through sustainable use and how that legacy continues today.
The film is part of the Grey Towers Heritage Association Screen on the Green environmental film series and will be shown rain or shine in the outdoor amphitheater or tented terrace area (bring a picnic dinner, blankets and/or lawn chairs). Start time is at dusk (approximately 7:30PM).
Both programs are free and open to the public and are part of the year-long commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Grey Towers’ dedication as a national conservation center. President John F. Kennedy came to Milford, PA, in 1963 to accept the gift of Grey Towers from the Pinchot family. Co-sponsored by the Grey Towers Heritage Association, Pinchot Institute for Conservation and the US Forest Service, they are funded in part by the Orange and Rockland Utilities Community Fund.
For more information call 570-296-9630 or email info@greytowers.org
