RZIM Summer Institute

Wheaton College
Sunday, June 9, 7pm – Friday, June 14, 2013, 3pm

Summary: RZIM Summer Institute 2013, The key to effective and holistic apologetics is to properly understand the nature, life, and work of Jesus Christ over and against competing worldviews and popular distortions, Christian or otherwise. Although, many are familiar with the depiction of Christ as the light of the world in John’s first epistle, few have given serious thought to what John means when he equates Christ with light. There are numerous well-meaning but insufficient treatments of Jesus on the part of his believers, epitomized by the phrase “Jesus is the answer.” There is a real need for a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and why he is the “light of men.”, The goal of the RZIM Summer Institute 2013 is to foster a more robust understanding of the nature, life, and work of Jesus Christ, and to motivate and equip its participants to make comprehensible to others why Christ is the light of the world.
Event Title: Light in the Darkness
Speaker(s): Alister McGrath, Andy Bannister, John Njoroge, Ravi Zacharias, Stuart McAllister
More info: www.rzim.org…

“Renewing a Vision of Faith: The Legacy of C. S. Lewis”

Cymru Institute for Contemporary Christianity
20 High Street,
Cardiff
CF10 1PT
Thursday, June 20, 2013, 2:30 – 4:30pm

Summary: Renewing a Vision of Faith – the Legacy of C.S. Lewis, Professor Alister McGrath, 2013 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the death of C. S. Lewis, now widely regarded as one of the greatest Christian writers of the twentieth century., Alister McGrath’s new biography of Lewis, being published in April 2013, is already being hailed as ground-breaking., In this lecture, Professor McGrath will talk about Lewis’s move from atheism to Christianity; his defence of the reasonableness of the Christian faith; his insights on how the quality of faith can be deepened; his views on how Christians can engage their culture; and the place of Narnia in helping us think about Christian ideas and values., This will be a treat for Lewis fans, and a stimulus to all who want to think more about the quality of their faith, and how they can explain and commend it to their friends, family, and colleagues.
Speaker(s): Alister McGrath
Cost: Student £6 / Student limited means £3
More info: cicconline.org.uk…
