We treasure the privilege to move freely and unfettered about our campus, and while campuses are relatively safe places to be, the potential for acts of violence and natural disasters threaten our college campuses.

While all risks can never be eliminated completely, they can be reduced through coordinated, collaborative efforts, training, and preparedness. Each member of the campus community has an important role to play in our continued safety and awareness.

Our vision at Shoreline Community College is to ensure as safe a campus as possible in the event of an emergency.
Our priority is to mitigate the risk and impact of crime, violence, and disaster, whether natural or person-caused. New Emergency Management measures will complement the security efforts that have been underway at Shoreline for the past several years.

The video now available for students contains important emergency information in the event of an intruder or active shooter on campus. Being aware of your environment, and knowing how to respond, could save your life and that of others. As suggested, have a plan for yourself, and be familiar with Shoreline's Emergency Management Response Plan: and Evacuation Map.

Margaret Svec, a founding instructor at Shoreline Community College, gave to students in life and is continuing to give after passing Sept. 30, 2012 at the age of 99.

Always a dear friend and supporter of the college and students, Margaret directed her estate to provide several significant gifts that will be acknowledged during an event celebrating her life and legacy

Margaret’s former co-workers Carol Doig and Jean Roden and her neighbor, Nancy Katz, will be on hand to present the estate’s legacy gifts.

Then, please stay and enjoy coffee and cookies, share your Margaret stories and if you didn’t know her, listen and learn about a remarkable woman.

Please join members of Rachel David's Gender Violence and Awareness class to learn about sexual harassment and rape in society. There will be brochures and students to gather information from.

Each red flag represents one in four female students at SCC who have been a victim, and every orange flag represents one in every ten male students here.

Please visit and collect a brochure, and encourage students to participate. The following Thursday, 5/23 wear a red shirt to show your support for those who have been victims.
