Description | Ken George is a professor of Anthropology at the Australian National University, and former Director of the School of Culture, History and Language in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, having served previously at the University of Wisconsin-Madisoon, Harvard University, and as Editor of the Journal of Asian Studies (2005-2008). His book "Picturing Islam: Art and Ethics in a Muslim Lifeworld" explores issues of religion, nationalism, ethnicity and globalization through the life and work of the prominent contemporary Indonesian artist Abdul Djalil Pirous.
