In this workshop invited participants will present and discuss the work of our immediate academic predecessors and the way they engage(d) with their objects of study towards the goal of better imagining what our own research, and the study of Japanese literature and culture, should become and how we might steer it in such a direction. To that end, we have invited guests that can provide feedback not only on individual projects but on how these projects might contribute to the next generation of Japanese literary studies.
