| | Description | The 2017 International Comic Arts Forum highlights the latest research in the study of comic art through three days of dual-track academic panels, coupled with roundtable discussions, artist talks, and moderated presentations. Guests include Japanese manga artist Moto Hagio; Ramzi Fawaz (University of Wisconsin, Madison); Peruvian comics journalist Jesús Cossio; and comics writer Kelly Sue Deconnick. While the conference adheres to no single theme, it often focuses on marginalized voices and the politics of difference in comics; the role in comics history played by the region in which the conference is held; the lasting cultural impact and significance of alternative comics in the US; transnational perspectives and trends; and the future of Comics Studies. REGISTER (The registration and fee are only required for those who are presenting a paper at ICAF, not the general public.) CONFERENCE SCHEDULE |
