Description | Gail Hansen is a public health veterinarian/epidemiologist and senior consultant on public health policy, antibiotic stewardship, infectious diseases, and animal welfare with Hansen Consults. Her professional expertise blends veterinary medicine with public health, epidemiology, animal welfare, and communication. She has over 25 years experience in infectious disease epidemiology working with healthcare, agriculture, pharmaceutical, consumer advocacy, public health, and academic groups. Dr. Hansen currently serves on the IDSA public health committee and on the National Academy of Medicine One Health work group. Prior to opening her own consulting firm, she was a public health veterinarian at The Pew Charitable Trusts for five years, working on antibiotic resistance and the misuse of antibiotics in food animals. She was also the state epidemiologist and state public health veterinarian for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and spent 12 years in private veterinary practices. |
