Description | Tuesday, February 13: Facilitators Ileana M. Rodríguez-Silva and Star Murray, "Global Migration." This session will encourage conversation about migration, especially from peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the policies to manage the mobility of these bodies in terms of the long-standing violent displacements that are the necessary condition for generating and expanding US capital and imperial power. We would like this event to prioritize the voices of those most directly affected by this issue. Join students, faculty and special guests from the UW Department of History in an informal conversation about the current events that are affecting our lives. Featuring a rotating roster of facilitators, we’ll focus in on present issues and historical precedents to consider how we might move forward in these challenging times. For more information about each session’s themes, please visit history.uw.edu or follow @historyuw on Facebook. |
