Ann Bostrom is the Weyerhaeuser Endowed Professor of Environmental Policy at the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy and Governance, University of Washington. She is also primary research area chair for environments and populations in the Center for the Study of Demography and Ecology, and co-lead on the Hazards and Resilience theme in EarthLab at the UW. Bostrom researches risk perception, communication, and decision-making under uncertainty, primarily in the context of environmental policy.  She is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Washington State Academy of Sciences, and the Society for Risk Analysis. She is also past president of the Society for Risk Analysis and the recipient of its Chauncey Starr Distinguished Young Risk Analyst Award for her work on mental models of hazardous processes.  Dr. Bostrom holds a Ph.D. in public policy analysis from Carnegie Mellon University, an M.B.A. from Western Washington University, and a B.A. in English from the University of Washington.
