Description | A native of Hong Kong, Dorothy Ko is a cultural historian of early modern China who works on the intersection of technology, art, and material cultures. Her books include The Social Life of Inkstones: Artisans and Scholars in Early Qing China (Washington, 2017), a finalist of the Charles Rufus Morey Book Award of the College Art Association and Cinderella’s Sisters: A Revisionist History of Footbinding (California, 2005) winner of the Joan Kelly Memorial Prize of the American Historical Association. She is Professor of History at Barnard College, Columbia University. |
