Please join us at the local Seattle Node of the Society for Cultural Anthropology's first worldwide virtual conference "Displacements" Thursday, April 19, 1:00-3:00 pm Denny Hall 313, University of Washington We will be meeting to view and participate in the plenary session of the conference which will feature new work and live conversation with the following participants: Era Un Lunes (It Was a Monday) Eduardo Kohn & Lisa Stevenson (McGill University) The Photoethnographer’s Eye: On Picture-Making, Fieldwork, and the Indecisive Moment Jason De Leon (University of Michigan) Digital Ethnography on Time and the Labor of Science at Sea Stephanie Spray (University of Colorado) Presenters in conversation, moderated by Anand Pandian (Johns Hopkins University) This event is open to all. The space will be open at 12 pm and remain open after 3 pm for people that want to come earlier or stay later to view other panels and ethnographic films associated with the conference. The node will give us a chance to engage with ideas and live conversations with anthropologists around the world. Viewers will be able to post questions to the presenters and engage with attendees via social media (#displace18) and the conference website. Work from UW anthropology graduate students/recent graduates Leyla Savloff, Anna Zogas and Darren Byler will also be featured in the conference; and the Anthropology Department will provide snacks!
