Description | HCDE Professor Emeritus David Farkas surveys various kinds of summaries, some familiar and some quite new, showing the text variables (degree and means of condensation, proportionality, mapping, style, and placement) through which the various kinds of summaries are created. Visitors are welcome to sit in on the class for the amount of time that fits their schedule. David K. Farkas is a Professor Emeritus in the UW Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering focusing on information design and technical communication. He has done extensive research and scholarship on online help systems, the writing of instructions, slideware (especially the disputes surrounding PowerPoint), and the design of complex expository documents. |
