Please join us for our December tree and shrub planting party in Yesler Swamp on Sunday, December 4th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm We will begin the work day with an exhilarating swamp tour and walk along the newly constructed cedar boardwalk—you may see beavers, owls, eagles, and of course many different varieties of plants. Please come for any amount of time that works with your schedule—every bit helps! Please be sure to RSVP to yeslerswamp14@gmail.com so we know how many volunteers to expect. What to bring: Please bring sturdy shoes and clothes that can get dirty/muddy (always prepare for rain), in addition to a water bottle and a snack. Dressing in layers is strongly recommended. Tools and gloves are provided, but please feel free to bring your own favorite tool if you have one (or many)! No experience is required to participate, and volunteers will be educated on how to safely use all tools. Bringing water is essential to avoid dehydration. Access to water fountains and restrooms is dependent on the Center for Urban Horticulture buildings being open, and they are often closed on weekends. Where to meet: Volunteers should meet me at the Yesler Swamp trail sign at the eastern Center for Urban Horticulture parking lot (3501 NE 41st Street) at 10:00 am for an exciting swamp tour before we begin working. The Yesler Swamp sign is circled in purple on the attached map. If arriving later than 10:00 am, please take a walk on the newly constructed boardwalk until you find us! If you arrive at the Center for Urban Horticulture and are confused, please don't hesitate to give Carolyn Foster a call at 360-773-5228. |
