The School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences invites you to join us for our annual Kenneth K. Chew Lecture, held on January 17th. We are pleased to announce that the speaker is the Visiting Kenneth K. Chew Endowed Professor, Dr. Cristian Gallardo-Escárate. His talk entitled “Between earthquakes and the salmon industry: Interdisciplinary research to develop sustainable aquaculture in Chile” will be held on Tuesday, January 17th at 4:30 pm. The location is 1122 NE Boat Street, Seattle WA, 98105 in the Fisheries Sciences Building Auditorium (FSH 102) with a reception to follow. The event is free and open to the public. Dr. Gallardo-Escárate is the Deputy Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR). The objective of INCAR is the creation of the first Center of Excellence for Sustainable Aquaculture Research in Chile, where top-level researchers in diverse areas related to aquaculture interact synergistically to make significant scientific contributions. Dr. Gallardo-Escárate held an appointment in the School of Aquatic and Fishery Science in Autumn, collaborating with researchers on shellfish aquaculture efforts.
