Gardens and natural landscapes rely on insects to pollinate flowering plants and sustain ecological communities. Mason bees are among the most effective pollinators in our gardens and are easily hosted and propagated. This workshop will introduce mason bees and other common native pollinators. We will explore what these insects need to thrive in our gardens and greenspaces. Participants will engage in hands-on activities of harvesting and cleaning mason bee cocoons and maintenance of mason bee nesting houses. Those interested in hosting mason bees in their backyard will be able to take their starter kit home for the coming growing season. Cost: $15 Register online or by phone (206-685-8033) |
