In the face of rapid technological change in computing, biotech, logistics, and communications, how can policy makers, nonprofits, and governments use technology to solve our greatest challenges? What role should the private sector play? What goals should we collectively be striving towards? How do we address extreme poverty, climate change, or inequality? Join us at our annual Dael L. Wolfle Lecture as we discuss these questions and challenges with our esteemed guest speaker Wismar Medina, Microsoft’s Industry Lead for Local and Regional Government. Medina’s expertise centers on Microsoft’s global efforts to help local and regional governments transform their digital resources so they may become more efficient and sustainable while better engaging their citizens. He is currently working on developing a vision for a “Public Sector Digital Marketplace.” The annual Dael. L. Wolfle Lecture is named for the late Dael L. Wolfle. Wolfle had an illustrious career in public service. He founded the Department of Psychology at the University of Mississippi, served as a civilian training administrator for the U.S. Army Signal Corps, served as the Executive Director of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, published Science magazine, and taught at the Evans School for more than twenty years |
