Up until now, we have been working in Ableton’s Arrangement View. This is a linear, timeline based interface that is common to every DAW. However, Ableton also has the Session View, which is geared towards musical idea creation, improvisation, Live performance or DJing. Understanding how to sequence musical passages and handle MIDI protocol is essential to getting the most out of Live for creating music.
