Description | The 2016 Region 10 Society of Professional Journalism conference welcomes journalists from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska, as well interested community members. The day features a wide range of speakers and panels discussing important topics in journalism and media. Sessions include a journalism ethics workshop with SPJ national president Paul Fletcher; a learning session covering digital tools for journalists from Google; a panel on giving voice to your stories through podcasting with industry veterans Tina Nole (Larj Media), Marty Riemer (The Marty Riemer Show), and Aaron Roden (The Air-Raid Podcast) moderated by Steven Scher (The Overlook Podcast, A Dry Rain, At Length with Steve Scher, That Stack of Books); a panel discussing the covering of trans- and non-binary news; and a Q&A with longreads.com founder Mark Armstrong on the ins and outs of long form journalism. Tickets are $15 for SPJ members and $25 for nonmembers. Ticket price includes light breakfast and coffee, pizza lunch, and parking. The event is open to non-journalists.
