Description | Hosted on the traditional homelands and waters of the Duwamish, Suquamish, Muckleshoot, Tulalip, and other Coast Salish peoples, the 2016 Summer Institute on Global Indigeneities is a pilot program for what we hope will be an annual meeting of junior and senior scholars in the interdisciplinary and global field of Indigenous and Native Studies. The product of ongoing conversations and collaborations among scholars, the institute offers a week of workshops, lectures, and collaborative learning activities for PhD students and faculty members from member universities of the SIGI consortium. At Friday's public research symposium, graduate fellows will present 10-minute introductions to their proposed research. Faculty from the UW and the Universities of California (Los Angeles), British Columbia (Vancouver), Hawai‘i (Manoa), Minnesota (Twin Cities), and Oregon. will provide commentary Friday Schedule - 8:30 am-noon Research Symposium, Allen Auditorium
