Winter 2017 Film Series: Woman with a Movie Camera: German Films by Female Directors 9 Leben (Maria Speth, 2011) Documentary 1 hour, 45 min English subtitles A film about the fates of several youths who left home to live on the streets. Rather than document their lives on-location on the streets, the film concentrates on how their personalities materialize as they discuss their lives in front of a neutral backdrop in a studio. The resulting crisp monochrome images are cinematic portraits reminiscent of those hung in exhibition spaces. Coffee and discussion will follow each screening. Open to UW students, faculty, and staff. Series curated by Jasmin Krakenberg (kbergj@uw.edu). |
