Continuing the Discussion on Post-election Pedagogy and Classrooms The Visiting Lecture Committee and the Diversity Committee are collaborating to convene a series of discussions on post-election pedagogy and classrooms. The idea is to build on the enthusiasm generated by the recent panel and forum on the topic by developing a regular time and place for discussion among faculty and graduate students currently teaching. Meetings will take place the first Friday of each month and will be open to all. A topic for each forum will be specified and the discussion will be facilitated by a graduate student and faculty pair. Topics to be considered include: framing the classroom, anti-racist curriculum/syllabus building, response to combative moments, and contextual reading of teacher evaluations among others. Regular meetings will provide space for mutual support and for pragmatic exchanges among fellow teachers concerning classroom moments of relative “success” as well as those have gone less well or have been troubling. |
