| | Description | This year's AAUP annual meeting features Chris Newfield (Literature and American Studies, UCLA) and Mike Meranze (History, UCLA).Newfield is author of several widely cited books on public universities, most recently to include The Great Mistake: How we Wrecked Public Universities and How We Can Fix them. Michael Meranze is the co-editor of the Remaking the University Blog For those interested in the subject, AAUP will host a seminar to discuss Newfield's "Great Mistake" on Jan 12 at noon. Those who wish to attend to should read Part 1 and 2 (to stage 2) and send rsvp to jacoby@uw.edu. Participants will likely also have a chance to meet with Newfield and Meranze at separate special workshop on Jan 26th. |
