In her first museum solo exhibition, Alison Marks has challenged assumptions and expectations about Tlingit art. In this free lecture, guest curator Miranda Belarde-Lewis examines the artistic trajectory of Marks' art through some of the predominant themes of her work—language preservation, outer space, cultural appropriation and interruption, and gender roles—and how they are expressed through a wide variety of mediums.
