Workshop: Olivia Hernández on Implementing Personal Writing in the Classroom As part of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity grant, the EWP will be hosting a series of five workshops throughout Winter and Spring 2018 that address ethical approaches to teaching personal writing, antiracist assessment, canonical literature, autoethnography, and multimodality. Participants will come away with practical applications for their classrooms and teaching philosophies. Our first workshop will be held next Friday, February 16, from 11-12:30 in the Allen Library Research Commons Red Room A. Details below. Workshop Leader: Olivia Hernández Title: Implementing Personal Writing in the Classroom Description: This workshop will outline pedagogical approaches for implementing personal writing in the classroom. We will discuss relevant scholarship on scholarly personal narrative writing and the workshop leader will outline how she has developed personal writing prompts in composition and literature courses that frame autobiographical content as a translingual rhetorical strategy. Participants will then have an opportunity to share their own ideas and approaches to utilizing personal writing.
