Description Join DUB Club in 2017! This winter quarter we will be discussing We Could Not Fail: The First African Americans In The Space Program, by Richard Paul and Steven Moss. As the New York Times described it, this is a surprising and insightful story of the black engineers, scientists, computer programmers, would-be astronauts and other pioneers who desegregated the space program. Mention that you are part of DUB club at the UW Book Store check out to receive a 20% discount on We Could Not Fail. We’ll kick-off this selection on Thursday, February 2 at 5:00 p.m. The formal program runs from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., but doors open at 5 p.m. for light refreshments and socializing. At this meeting we will split into small groups that will decide independently if they will meet in-person throughout the quarter. We will all reconvene on March 2 at 5:00 p.m. for a collective book discussion. The OMAD Diversity Uncommon Book Club (DUB Club), created in support of President Ana Mari Cauce's Race and Equity Initiative, discusses books on topics such as race, ethnicity, gender and socioeconomic disparities, LGBTQ, intersectionality, bias, and/or identity development. |
