February Daily Films: Nikamowin/Song

Sunday, February 12, 2012, 3:30 – 4 pm

In honor of Black History Month, the museum presents two films that explore identity, community, and tradition:

Nikamowin/Song (2007, 11 min, Canada, directed by Kevin Lee Burton (Swampy Cree), in English and Cree with English subtitles and voice-over) This experimental film ponders the indelible human connection to language and the alarming demise of Native languages, transforming the sounds of a Cree narrative into parallel landscapes and soundscapes.
