Celebrate South Sound Sustainability! Join us at the Expo on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center (1500 Broadway) and Tollefson Plaza (1548 Pacific Ave.). This free event connects community members with nearly 100 local businesses and organizations dedicated to a healthy and environmentally sustainable South Sound. Explore a variety of topics, including electric bikes, green construction, local art, and a mini farmers market. The event will also feature workshops on urban gardening, preventing wasted food, and tools for mindful environmentalism. Families will be able to enjoy live storytelling and music from a local author, and sustainable arts and crafts in the expanded Kid’s Corner. Bring a t-shirt, shopping bag or other fabric item to screen print. This celebration is once again bringing the fun outside to Tollefson Plaza. Highlights include a tiny house, electric bike test rides, live music and food trucks. The South Sound Sustainability Expo is presented by the City of Tacoma’s Office of Environmental Policy and Sustainability, with support from Tacoma Public Utilities, Unity College, Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union, Pierce Transit, Metro Parks Tacoma and the Port of Tacoma.
